Project Samples

Javascript/CSS/DHTML   A proof of concept to demonstrate a faceted browsing experience.

Client side (browser based) control allows a product selection experience that is simpler and easier for customers. Facets can be product features based, or could be product usage based (how they will be using the products).

As you click on a facet only the products that match a facet are displayed and also any facets that no longer apply to the set of matching products are grayed out.

Javascript/CSS   A prototype using Javascript in a web browser to facilitate ordering pizza on-line.

This one allows navigation using the standard mouse clicking or you can use the arrow keys to navigate and use the numeral keys to select quantities.

PHP and MySQL   A functional prototype (admin username/password is steve/secret, use saic35/q941vt37 to see from the

party

viewpoint) using PHP with MVC.

Start out as the admin

This proof of concept implements a system in which an administrator creates a deal to manage the documents and users involved with the deal.

The administrator can create unique users (generated userid and passwords), create custom classes to which documents and users can be assigned to control access.

Some PHP and SQL code fragments can be seen here.

xsl and web services  Some Client side XSLT that invokes web services from the backend.

It pulls down several xml datafiles that are chained one to another. homepage.xml pulls down steve.xml to get stock tickers and then builds and invokes a URL to retrieve stock quotes from a web service.

It formats stock quotes, sorts them in the browser.

annuity  Sample applet and Java code snippet.

It was intended to to graphically show how an annuity would play itself out based on initial value, continuing contributions and then distributions.

It was supposed to show "what if".

charts  Sample charts, web page and 'C' code snippet

provided "real-time" charts for first three generations of Nasdaq.com web site.

clipbuilder  Texis Vortex code (a tagged, pre-JSP tags system).

System was a "personal Search engine"

At the end I was playing with give the user the ability to control what data was returned in a result set and also to control how it was displayed. You could specify on a per-element basis whether to show in column, row or turn off the display. As you click it shows what the display will look like.

Try out a piece of javascript/dhtml that was allowing a user to modify the appearance of their search results.

iolab  TCL/Tk code samples.

whoisbeater  A Java program that reads queries from a file, feeds them into a queue, and has multiple, configurable, number of threads which connect to the whois server on a configurable timed basis.
